If you choose to visit any of the local SSA offices in Atlanta, plan ahead by making an appointment to minimize your wait time. If you plan to apply for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) in person, check in with the security guard as soon as you arrive for your appointment. From there you’ll go to the electronic kiosk to register why you’re there. Once you’re called to the window, you’ll be able to speak with a representative regarding your claim. The rep at the window will be able to answer your questions, handle your initial claim, and assist you as needed. If you have already filed a claim and want to go to the Atlanta Social Security Administration regarding your pending hearing, you’ll need to go to the hearing office specifically.

How Much Is The Social Security Disability Attorney's Fee?

For Social Security disability lawyers, in most cases the fee is limited to 25% of the past-due benefits you are awarded, with a maximum of $6,000. The attorney will be paid only out of your past-due benefits, or "back pay." If no back benefits are awarded, the attorney will not receive a fee. This is called a contingency fee agreement. The agreement is signed by you and your attorney and is filed with Social Security to ensure that it satisfies their guidelines.

When Do You Have To Pay The Attorney's Fee?

Usually, you don't physically pay the attorney. Social Security takes the attorney's fee (up to $6,000) from your past-due benefits, and you will get your backpay in either a lump sum(SSDI), or installments(SSI).
